David is a board certified music therapist, originally from Texas, now living in Fresno. David’s interest and fascination with music began when he was a child growing up in the Texas panhandle. He and his family would often attend shows held by Blue Prairie, a western swing band in which his dad sang, played the upright bass, and donned a cowboy hat. David completed his bachelor’s degree in music performance at Oklahoma Christian University where he studied classical guitar, jazz guitar, classical bass, and jazz bass.
David went on to study music therapy at Texas Woman’s University where he received a master of art’s degree in music with an emphasis in music therapy. David completed his music therapy internship at the Institute for Therapy through the Arts in the Chicago area, and has had the privilege of working with many different kinds of people as a music therapist, including special needs children and adults, children in medical care, older adults in memory care, and adults in inpatient psychiatric hospitals. David is currently undergoing training for the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music, and hopes to become a fellow of the practice in the near future.
