about the music therapists

Trysha, MA, MT-BC

Trysha is a board-certified music therapist and the owner and founder of Central Valley Music Therapy. She has been serving the Central Valley for over 15 years.

Trysha holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Family and Children, and a Master’s degree in Music Therapy from New York University. She completed her clinical internship at Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, working in adult inpatient psychiatry.

Her experience spans a wide range of settings, including pediatrics, psychiatry, hospice, rehabilitation, special education, and mental health. She has advanced training in Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) and Guided Imagery in Music (GIM) using the Bonny Method.

Upon moving to the Central Valley, Trysha brought music therapy into a psychiatric rehabilitation facility in Sanger, later becoming Director of Rehabilitation. She also helped establish programs at Valley Children’s Hospital, Hinds Hospice, and worked with medically fragile students in Fresno Unified School District. In 2021, she founded Central Valley Music Therapy to provide individualized, community-based music therapy services.

Outside of work, Trysha is a proud wife and mom of two. She loves traveling—especially to the beach—spending time with her family (including three dogs and a cat), and making music at home with her kids.

David, MA, MT-BC

David is a board certified music therapist, originally from Texas, now living in Fresno. David’s interest and fascination with music began when he was a child growing up in the Texas panhandle. He and his family would often attend shows held by Blue Prairie, a western swing band in which his dad sang, played the upright bass, and donned a cowboy hat. David completed his bachelor’s degree in music performance at Oklahoma Christian University where he studied classical guitar, jazz guitar, classical bass, and jazz bass.

David went on to study music therapy at Texas Woman’s University where he received a master of art’s degree in music with an emphasis in music therapy. David completed his music therapy internship at the Institute for Therapy through the Arts in the Chicago area, and has had the privilege of working with many different kinds of people as a music therapist, including special needs children and adults, children in medical care, older adults in memory care, and adults in inpatient psychiatric hospitals. David is currently undergoing training for the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music (GIM), and hopes to become a fellow of the practice in the near future.

Miranda, MT-BC

Miranda is a board certified music therapist originally from the Bay Area now residing in the Central Valley. Music has been an integral part of her life since the beginning of high school, which led to Miranda studying music therapy at the undergraduate level at University of the Pacific. She has provided music therapy services for a variety of populations including individuals of all ages with intellectual/developmental disabilities, older adults with varying stages of dementia, adults with psychiatric disorders, individual hospice care, and young children with hearing impairments.

Miranda enjoys playing board games and video games in her free time with her boyfriend and loves nature photography, Disneyland, her bearded dragon named Summer, and the birds at the San Diego Safari Park.

Anastasia, MT-BC

Anastasia is a Board Certified Music Therapist who specializes in working with adults and children with dual diagnosis developmental disability and mental health challenges. She was trained at Arizona State and Grand Canyon University.

Over the years she has worked with a variety of populations including working with individuals with traumatic brain injuries, working with adults with developmental disabilities and working with those who have mental health challenges. Her internship was working with children with developmental challenges and she has continued to support that population through private practice for many years. She has worked in various settings including inpatient and forensic settings.

Her further trainings have included Neurological Music Therapy Training and Trauma Focused Music Therapy Training. She is a lifelong learner and loves to take trainings and read articles related to the people she works with. She considers it a privilege to be able to serve the individuals who she sees.

In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and children.
